Programmes

Circle Squared Europe Ltd carries out additional research to find how e-mentoring could benefit SME's and have since introduced e-mentoring to deliver the world's first project in the South East of England called Mentors by Net. This project is funded by SEEDA and the Small Business Service and is delivered through Business Link Surrey. e-mentoring is also responding to requests from other UK and Worldwide public sector organisations to deliver this exciting new opportunity on their behalf.

MentorsbyNet

18 months ago, SEEDA and Business Links across the South East implemented an e-mentoring programme called Mentorsbynet (www.mentorsbynet.co.uk) to deliver support to businesses in the South East of England. Now, there are nearly 600 participants on the programme with over 250 relationships currently taking place. Each relationship is supported by an extensive online self assessment and training area to ensure participants get the most out of their relationships.

Mentorsbynet is the largest and most successful e-mentoring programme in Europe.

DEFRA – South East England rural e-mentoring programme

The programme is the first of its kind to aid the development of farming businesses in the UK. The industry first e-mentoring programme was funded by DEFRA to the value of £50,000, and supported by the Small Business Service.

Farmers eligible for the scheme were farming in the South East of England, possessed a County Parish Holding (CPH) and should spend at least 75% of their time working on farming activities.

Mentfor – East of England rural e-mentoring programme

Following the success of the e-mentoring programme for farmers in the SE of England, an e-mentoring programme designed specifically for UK farmers and rural businesses was launched in the East of England in 2004.

Overall the pilot project attracted a total of 30 participants, 21 mentees and 9 mentors from the East of England Region, the project also had the support of a further 127 mentors available through MentorsByNet.

The programme was funded as a sub-project of the East Mentoring Forum (EMF), which is supported by the European Social Fund and the East England Development Agency (EEDA).
